Although my students are allowed to check out books from the school library, I feel that the students are much more likely to borrow a book from my classroom library to read during down time. I also will be holding my students accountable for their independent reading by having them to complete a book study based on what they have read, answer questions, participate in a discussion, and encourage others to read the same text. My goal is to encourage the students to select books they will want to read and therefore need help to provide a wide variety of text to present to my students.
