My students are wonderful! They are special ed. fifth and sixth graders in an inner-city school. While they are street-smart, they also are very innocent in other ways. They are creative and inquisitive, and yet, sadly, many of them do not see themselves as good readers and writers, or as capable of doing grade-level math. They have accepted this as their permanent and final condition. It is so hard to convince them that they can be successful in school. With the right materials, I know that they will improve. Last year we received multiple copies of Diary of a Wimpy Kid through a Donor's Choose grant, and what a difference that made, both in their reading abilities and in their self-confidence! I have seen the difference a little additional support has made, and I know that with more support, my students will achieve even more success! Thank you so much for all you do for children!!!!
