In my UDL classroom, my goal is to create a learning environment where students learn who they are as learners and what they need to be successful. I strive to provide multiple options for my students to engage in the content and express their learning in ways that work for them. I have always tried my best to create different types of work spaces in my classroom so my students can work in spaces where they feel they can be the most successful. I have spent much of my own time and money collecting miscellaneous furniture to arrange in my classroom. Due to recent fire code changes, we are being forced to get rid of a lot of these items that help make our classrooms a cozy, welcoming, and engaging environment for students, but it all has to go. I would love to be able to replace these flexible seating options for my students so they can continue to be empowered with control of their own environment.
