Using these picture books will help assist my students in writing their own personal narratives. By having these these mentor texts as a guide, my students will be able to model their own writing after them. My fabulous first graders will be able to relate to Ralph, who can never think of what to write. They will be able to take a small moment of their life and write about it, just like Jabari! They will be able to write about their family, just like in "Kitchen Dance." These books will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create.
