Without engagement, educators have nothing. In our cash-strapped public school that works with disadvantaged youth, engagement is an absolute must. These materials will allow us to create meaningful experiences in the classroom when we can't afford to go beyond the walls. These tools will provide students with evidence for backing their claims of skill-acquisition with fun experiences at school. We will use these tools to develop students' ability to make models representing our content area. These materials will be focal points for engagement in each respective unit. It will also help students manage their behavior better in class so that we can have more quiet, independent work and as a result of their positive behavior they can use these tools. Completing these project-builds also will allow us to celebrate success with more students meeting the high expectations set out in the Next Generations Science Standards of California.
