"Wow, I never thought I'd actually enjoy reading!" exclaimed multiple of my high school Spanish students. Sadly, many students have begun to dread reading in their first language by the time they have reached high school, but learning how to read in a new language not only helps them acquire the language, it also helps them learn how to enjoy reading once again! Research shows that students acquire language best by reading in the target language. Students will be exposed to vocabulary and sentence structures while reading these compelling stories. Reading increases students' ability to naturally understand the structure of the language! I've witnessed how increased reading in a foreign language classroom has ignited a spark in students of all skill levels and backgrounds to start reading more on their own for their enjoyment and learning! Please help my Spanish 1 & 2 students fall in love with reading!
