Flexible seating provides students choice! Teaching and guiding students to make their own choices is a very valuable lesson we can provide students. These are children who have a parent (or parents) serving in the military so students do not always have that flexibility when choosing. Providing choice in where students can sit and work allows each child to help set themselves up for success. He/she will know where and how works best for them to reach their learning needs. "A comfortable classroom keeps students focused and limits distractions both physically and psychologically." (Herman Miller, 2008) I hope to better engage and boost learning independence by providing them with more choices to best fit their learning style and needs.
