We will use the chair pockets to learn about and store each of our brand new materials! The children bring in different folders to use for daily work and subjects. It's nice to have these easily accessible. When they have unfinished work, they need their red folder to store the work to return to later. They keep their journals for different subjects in there, as well. The science journal is the most popular. We love our hands-on science. We'll begin with our Insects and Plants unit. It requires many entries in the journal. They will learn that first week how to find their mailbox (in the literature sorter) and retrieve their mail each day at dismissal. This is a new thing for second graders to experience. There wasn't this much responsibility and ownership in first grade! They're growing up!
