The students I work with receive individual therapy at least once a week to work towards their treatment goals. Their treatment goals match the individual and family needs of each student. In addition to extra support in the classroom, as a social worker, I strive to give students the coping mechanisms and tools they need to succeed in all aspects of life (i.e. socially and emotionally). The Build Me Emotions kit, Emotion Sorting Boxes, Social Skills Board Games, and other materials I have selected will help me work therapeutically with my students. When students are suffering from a mental illness and/or trauma(s), it can be difficult for them to focus in the classroom. Therefore, emotional health is critical to the success of children throughout the lifespan.
