Each student in our 1st and 2nd grade program will take home a colorful plastic folder with their name on it and it will be filled with stories they have already successfully read in our program. At home they will be so excited to read to an adult or sibling and show how much they have learned! As Mary Poppins says "Well begun is half done." Which is why early literacy is so important! Young students who are really excited and eager to read at home show remarkable growth over the school year. This foundation helps them become life long learners. When students return their folders on Thursday, they will be able to take new stories home. Parents sign a weekly sheet in the folder that gives them tips for reading success and helps assure students are reading with/to them at home.
