In our ELA classroom, students will spend half of their time receiving completely individualized instruction. Most of my students are 1-2+ years below grade level in reading. I will use the individualized instruction time to bridge this gap. This time will be spent in a variety of ways: in a small group re-teach with me, in a pre-teach with a Special Education teacher, reading a book online, working in groups on a project, reading a book for joy, completing data-driven and objective-focused assignments and more. I will use data to customize each and every student's education during this time. I will use the portable whiteboard to parallel teach with my co-teacher. Students will also use them to present their work and justify their answers. Research shows that we all learn best from teaching others! 2 teachers teaching means there is more time for learning! I will use the headphones so that students can focus while reading. When approved, they may also use them to listen to music while working independently. Students will have flexible seating options with the stools, so that they can focus on their learning. Furthermore, I will use the whiteboards in my small group re-teaches. Engagement is key in middle school and personal white boards keep kids engaged, especially during difficult lessons filled with multiple choice questions.
