I am a first year teacher, so I am building my classroom from scratch. My students are diverse in so many ways, and I truly want them to bring their individuality to my class. By being authentic in the classroom, they will be able to engage and grow in ways that go beyond the textbook. I plan to accomplish this goal by having books that are written by people that look and come from backgrounds similar to their own. Having basic supplies like construction paper, glue sticks, and markers will allow us to do fun and engaging activities like book report mobiles that we will hang from our ceiling to decorate our classroom. My hope is that by providing unique opportunities to engage with the content, that my students will grow in ways that they haven't before and that they develop as learners and not just ELA students. The most important thing in life is to be a learner and take advantage of the resources given to you. I want to teach that important life lesson to my students, and I will do that with the materials I have asked for in my list. Thank you for considering my class for a donation!
