Students will receive tools such as a mailbox system and folders to go home that will help students get organized. The alternative seating choices will foster both collaboration and independence. Bean bags, lap desks, a couch, and pillows as seating options, will give students a voice and choice. Students will get to choose where they work and what they sit on doing independent reading and math time. They will also have the option to use any of these seating options during partner and group time. Many of these students had me as a teacher last year. This will also give their classroom a new feel. Now that they are 5th graders, they are gaining even more independence!
