I would like to provide my students with the option to sit or stand in the classroom. In order to accomplish this I need new furniture including tables, stack chairs, and stools to replace my current student desks. Research has proven that standing improves mental processing and learning. Sit/stand desks fight against childhood obesity. Students who stand at desks burn calories and are less likely to be sedentary after school. Students who have the option to sit or stand will be more focused and attentive to classroom instruction. Behavioral issues will also decrease as students are provided with more opportunities to move and learn simultaneously. All of these benefits offered by providing students the option to sit or stand will ultimately enhance the learning of all students.
