This collection of items will vastly improve the options that my students have for exploring early math and literacy concepts. They will also support my students social emotional growth by helping them to play cooperatively and practice effective communication. These tools and materials will be used a variety of different ways throughout the entire school year as we transition to play based kindergarten in my school district. I look forward to watching my students get excited to spell their sight words using the letter beads or stamps, build towers and castles with the tinker toys and magnetic shapes, as well as practice all of their skills in a variety of developmentally appropriate and engaging ways! As the entire state of NH transitions to play based kindergarten it is imperative that I provide opportunities for my students to learn through play as well as transition my instructional materials to allow for more student choice and engagement.
