By having these desks and stools in our room, students will be encouraged to put their thinking out on the table and share their thoughts with peers as well as adults. Small group instruction would also benefit from this project because more attention can be given to those that may need extra help, such as those students with learning disabilities or ADHD and ADD to get them moving and thinking outside the box. The stools will allow students to learn while in a more comfortable setting. Having students work out their experiments or projects on these tables will allow them to build their own plans and collaborate with each other. They will grasp not only the material being taught, but build communication and coordination skills as well. Our school is driven by self instruction and reflection, so by having students work “out loud,” they will be able to take ownership of their work in addition to working collaboratively with each other to complete tasks.
