The resources I have requested for my classroom support STEM learning, self-regulation strategies, and literacy development for below-level readers. Our healthy and positive classroom learning environment can help to counter the negative effects of toxic stress caused by poverty and other adverse childhood experiences. STEM flakes will be used for morning creativity challenges to get little hands engaged in new ways of thinking. Flex seating options and fluorescent filters help support trauma-informed strategies and can provide positive reinforcements, opportunities for Zen breaks, and reduce triggers. Time Magazine for Kids provides on-level nonfiction texts covering a variety of rich social studies learning.
