Today's world is changing more than ever. Traditional education will not prepare our students for a successful future. Students need a hands-on approach to create and problem solve with other students. My project is to create a safe and fun atmosphere for students to explore these opportunities. By creating these opportunities students start to think about their future careers. STEM also creates an atmosphere for students to talk to others and problem solve, creating a growth mindset. By interacting with other students, they learn how to act appropriately in different situations. Students entering kindergarten are going to graduate and fulfill jobs that haven't even been created yet. Through STEM we prepare our students for these jobs and for their future. Students will use these items during STEM time that I am creating as my morning work. Students come in a choose what they would like to do for the morning based on the items in my cart. It is all student-directed. Through the STEM tubs, students can build and create different things. I would like my students to learn to code the robots and connect it to what we are learning in 5th grade as well. For example, if we were reading a story students could have the robot recreate a scene from the story. This is not limited to just reading it all across the curriculum.
