This is a novel I am very passionate about from the first reading. Throughout my tenure as a teacher, I have discovered that my students additionally become passionate when reading Ender's Game. While reading this novel, we will be examining such themes as patriotism, propaganda, xenophobia, psychology, and gaming culture through the eyes of a six-year-old boy. All of which are timely in today's society. Students will be broken up into groups or "armies" and they will earn points for completing reading, in-class assignments, and longer assignments. By putting the students into "armies" they will create their own sigil and team motto, thus increasing student ownership and accountability.

About my class
