This year, I am really focusing on student creativity. I want to teach my students that we can learn outside of the traditional learning ways and achieve great growth. I would like to give students more flexible work space options within our room. This will increase student collaboration and allow our creative minds to work! Students do not do their best thinking in hard plastic chairs all day long. Just like us, they want to be comfortable while doing their best work. Students need flexibility in their work space to really get their brain going! My students spend most of their day out of their desk and working around the room. Many do their best thinking and best work on the rug or curled up in a spot in the room. Others haven't found their "spot" yet. I am hoping the stools and cushions will give them a few more options as well as make our classroom feel homier. In addition, we will use the stools for our small group instructions during math and reading interventions. They will add a some fun seating options to our room and help create another cozy area for student collaboration and work.
