These books are for small intervention groups for an 8th grade class. I am an interventionist who works with 6-8 grade to support teachers and give extended assistance to students who are not performing on grade level. Reading is the foundation of all education and is critical to the success of students. I want to use these books to read with my group of 8th graders who are not reading on their expected grade level, and who are not meeting expected growth. Using projects, supplemental material, essay/journal writing, etc. that coincide with the book, my goal is to grow these students and their confidence in reading. The book I have chosen is based on a true story about polio and its effects on families near our small town in North Carolina.
