How would you like to come in to work with more work and tasks waiting on your desk. Not only that, but you are told to sit down and get to work immediately. No time to sip your coffee or open your emails and get your mind in the work mode. If that sounds terrible to you, well it does me too. This is what it's like for a child to come into a morning worksheet. Instead of a worksheet at their desk, these materials allow me to have brain bins at their desk, where dare I say they can play in the morning for 10-15 minutes. It gets their brains moving and woke up for the day. These materials allow me to let my kindergarten students explore STEM. If you look at the research behind letting kids engage in unstructured inquiry and imaginative play, you will see that their are long term advantages. By giving my Kindergarten students the "toys" you will be helping them to explore, create, explore, and build with their classmates. Lastly, these bins allow students of all levels engage with their peers without the pressure of our daily expectations. Everyone no matter their level of academics, can engage with these materials.
