Most of our kids go hungry, almost all of our students don't get breakfast at home and if they aren't on time for school they miss breakfast. In our school, kindergarten does not eat lunch til 12:50 so if they missed breakfast it greatly impacts their learning because they are so focused on being hungry instead of learning. By donating snacks to all of our kindergarten classes you will support students in their healthy eating habits and help out our wonderful teachers who buy snacks from our own pockets to provide food for our students. We have just been buying bags of cereal, which is delicious, but not very healthy considering the amount of sugar. We unfortunately cannot afford to buy multiple amounts of snack because healthy options are very expensive. Our parents donate as much as they can but based on the neighborhood that our school is in, our parents need every penny they make. Each snack is a healthier choice than cereal, cookies, or chips. If our kids are able to bring a snack they usually bring a candy bar which is not very healthy option and then they are very sugared up and the day is almost impossible because now they are hyper. By donating money to get these snacks you will be providing snack for the entire year which will help our teachers use their funds for other items. Thanks for your consideration and helping us feed our very hungry kindergarteners.
