Throughout the summer, my school underwent a significant renovation, for the better. They were able to add a space for all of their CDC classes to be a part of the main school environment. This entailed a lot of natural changes, and as a result the need to re-configure my classroom into a new and still safe environment for my students. My students, who all have significant special needs, are making massive gains, and as their teacher, it's my job to provide them a haven for when the world is too much to process, as well as a place to grow and learn in every way that they so desperately need. By choosing my project, you are enabling me to provide them a more adequate environment to do those things. I currently have no place to keep their IEP's, which must be locked away, and a locking cabinet is necessary, as well as a desk where items can be tucked away to keep my students safe. I am a new teacher, this is my second year of teaching, but my first full year as a teacher, and my first priority is an environment that is sensory-friendly with a few more soft edges then we currently have. Fluorescent lights can trigger seizures, and covering them is necessary to keep that at bay. Most of my students struggle with steady mobility, so having an environment that accommodates falls is important. So much has changed for us moving into the main building, and we are missing some items that we need for our daily functioning. Thank you for your support, and for helping my class reach their full potential!!
