Everyone learns better when they see how what their learning applies to real life. I want my students to be involved in cooking and baking which will allow them to see the math they are learning in real world applications. By multiplying recipes, we are learning about ratios and rates, fractions and decimals, and measurement. If they can actually measure recipes and cook/bake it, then they have hands on experiences to relate back to when in other similar situations. If I can relate the abstract math we are learning to real world baking and cooking situations, students will be able to understand, internalize, and retain math concepts
