My students have been virtual since March 2020. All of their classwork since March 2020 has been generated through Google Classroom. It is a great resource and has been invaluable during the Pandemic. I will continue to use it when we are back in person and it will be in important part of my ELA classroom. But my students need more. The resources I have requested will allow the students to express themselves on paper instead of the computer and they will also be able to read an actual print magazine - a resource that many do not have! Research tells us that pen and paper writing stimulates the part of the brain responsible for language processing. We also know that journaling empowers students to express themselves, it improves memory and writing skills, and it allows the teacher to track improvement for each individual student. With these resources, my students can become better readers and writers and begin to make up the learning loss created by the Pandemic.
