We are wanting to integrate technology in our science department to boost our students into contemporary scientific practices. Our curriculum is developed on the premise of having students role play real world scientists in the lab. With the use of probes, students will be able to collect, analyze and interpret data increasing their understanding of modern technology in advancing scientific understanding. Climatologist, soil chemist, forensic scientist, botanist, and zoologist are a few of the many roles our students get to explore in our science classrooms. Our project based learning curriculum will be greatly enhanced with the use of lab probes in our investigations. The authenticity of science practice will come alive when the students can measure variable changes in temperature and pH in real time. With the accessibility to use temperature and pH probes, our students will be able to perform cellular respiration and photosynthesis labs with living organisms to detect how temperature and pH changes influence these metabolic processes. Our students can use the temperature and pH probes to determine how enzymes are influenced by environmental factors and the importance of biological homeostasis. These are just a few examples of how these technology tools will be able to benefit our students weekly. With the versatility of applications these probes can be used for, our students' scientific professional explorations will be limitless.
