When I think about the necessities that are essential to my classroom and the culture I want to cultivate, it starts with a rug. Having a gathering place is imperative to building and maintaining relationships with my students. The large rug will be placed in the front of the classroom and used for morning meetings, a spot where students can enjoy a book, mini lessons, and where students can collaboratively share ideas with their peers. By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve student engagement, you will ultimately help to cultivate a safe classroom environment where students feel loved, heard, and cared for. Starting each day off with morning meeting allows my students to share about themselves, learn about others, and get to know their teacher. It helps my students know that their voice matters and is valued. Students are able to use the large rug to comfortably cozy up to a good book. Along with this, students can use the carpet to work with partners, play math games, and collaboratively share ideas with their peers. My students will love having a place within the classroom where we can come together to reach our full potential!
