As the girls’ basketball coach, it is my mission to see that our young ladies exceed their perceived sociological expectations by making excellent grades in my classroom while also performing exceptionally well on the basketball court. It is my vision to train these adolescents properly (both on and off of the court), thus preparing them for high school which will then be their platform to receive both academic and athletic scholarships from various colleges and universities that these girls may have never dreamed of being able to attend as a result of their unfortunate financial situations. The vast majority of our students only need someone to intervene in their lives and to assist in “leveling the playing field” so that they too are afforded the same academic and athletic opportunities as those students who come from financially and emotionally stable homes and families. By donating basketballs, reversible pennies, and a strength chute training aid, it would most certainly assist us in our efforts of molding future leaders and ultimately productive members of society.
