Every day in my classroom, students travel over to our classroom library. Once there, they are met with a limited selection of titles to choose from. In the last quarter of the school year, that limited selection is nearly depleted and exhausted. My wish for my library is that it reflects the ability levels and life experiences of my students. I want them to both see themselves within the characters on the pages, but also to be challenged to think in different ways and be presented with scenarios that they might not normally encounter. I hope that they fall in love with a character or a storyline that makes it so they can't stop reading. I yearn for a day when all of my students enjoy their book of choice for independent reading time. This project will allow students to choose from a wider variety of titles, giving them quicker access to books that can assist them on the road to becoming life-long readers. (And get points for their Accelerated Reader grade!)
