I would like for my students to have a variety of seating choices. Many of my students have the need to move. Flexible seating choices allow them to be able to take ownership of their learning environment. This may also help to reduce behaviors since the students will have power by making choices. Some students may need something for their feet to keep busy, while others needs something in their chair, and others need a whole different type of seat. Ball seats provide movement which will help students to focus on lessons. Using balls as seating helps provide core strength as well. This type of seating is also easy to keep clean. Balls will be able to be wiped down with sanitizing wipes. Foot bands and seat cushions are also easily cleaned. Start cushions are also easy to take along when students are in other rooms. All of these items can help students to focus and learn better than standard classroom seating.
