I believe in a classroom environment where students ask questions, make mistakes and challenge themselves on a daily basis. It's important that my students have access to quality materials they will use to promote their growth as learners! My students will be fluid learners who will make their own sense of concepts by questioning and exploring what is considered traditional. Through collaborative small group work my students will use the reading and writing materials in this project to create flashcards, annotate texts, jot down ideas, and illustrate their understanding of literacy and math concepts. The easel pad is a resource that will support my visual learners who learn best through use of images, drawings and graphs. Trusting my students to be leaders in their knowledge acquisition is important to me because I want them to realize that their choices control their journeys inside and outside the classroom. The reading and writing materials included in this project will support my students' literary and mathematical comprehension and fluency. Most importantly, their access to these materials promotes independence and ownership of their learning.
