Music is integral in creating a calm and productive classroom. Additionally, some students need audio and visual supplements to unlock levels of thought and creativity, as well as general understanding. I use audio with my classes on a daily basis--instrumental music during writing time and supplementing literacy with the use of audiobooks. Additionally, I am able to use pre-reading resources such as author interviews, background information videos, and anticipatory sets to pique students' interests. However, my classroom is lacking resources. While I have used my personal devices for audio in the past with great success, my devices have broken down in the last five years and are no longer working. We need this iPad and speaker.
