Flexible seating gives students the opportunity to be comfortable while learning. It is proven to increase student engagement in the classroom. Each learner absorbs information differently using a multitude of strategies. Therefore, it is beneficial to have options available for students to choose the environment that best helps them learn. One of the many goals of an educator is to successfully meet the needs of each student as an individual learner. With flexible seating, students are able to choose an area of the room that helps them focus as they work independently. In receiving additional flexible seating for our classroom, it would assist me in getting one step closer in reaching the goal of providing individualized supports for students. Currently, my students have a few options around the room, however the options are limited. Students need calming color clipboards, a beanbag and a flex space bench.
