Because science encourages children to explore, create, think critically, and extend on preexisting knowledge, it is a learning experience that children can do naturally. Adding materials to the process only adds to the fun and excitement of all that science has to offer. Just imagine your teacher engaging you in a lesson on tiny organisms and asking you to explain how do you think that they would look. You use your imagination, but you never actually get to see them. Then, voila! You are presented with a microscope and you can now analyze, compare and contrast and study the organism that you have been imagining, learning and discussing. A good teacher can always make a child learn, but a great teacher makes the classroom come alive. Awesome materials add to the exuberance of an active learning environment.
