Many of my students are unable to read at their own grade level, which makes the AP Biology text book seem impossible. This is a major hurdle for students interested in taking an AP class. Therefore I would like to have a class set of the AP Biology Cliff Notes text. I would implement 10-15 minutes of reading at the begininning of each class, so students have an introduction to the content in a simplified and less intimidating manor. I will then base my daily lessons on the material in the book by providing follow on information from the text book that builds on the concepts, but not overwhelming them with pages of information. The class would then conduct interactive activities, group projects, and laboratory experiments to put the information into practice.
