As my students go 1 device per 1 student, as my students start to learn about the complexities of government and economics of the modern world, and as my students prepare for life after high school, the stressors and anxieties multiply. In an effort to provide students with techniques and strategies to manage the challenges of life, I am creating a mindfulness project at my school. Thankfully, my school district is providing funds to run an after school program that involves both academic and enrichment options, however additional funding for specific programs for materials is a bit of a stretch financially. My hopes are with this donorschoose project, I can fund the supplemental items that can help me facilitate the mindfulness project. The mindfulness enrichment class will involve, journaling, reading, yoga, meditation, as well as other student requested mindful activities. Although my classroom has the desks and chairs that meet the needs of the traditional classroom, there is room for growth in building an environment of mindfulness.
