STEM activities are an important part of the learning process for today's children. Throughout our lives, we continue to learn science. It is all around us. Technology has become a part of our everyday lives. Engineering is the use of scientific principles to design and build machines, structures, and other things, including bridges, roads, vehicles, and buildings. Since, engineering activities are based on real-world technologies and problems, they help students realize how math and science are pertinent to their lives. Mathematics is an important part of every job. In addition, it is used in our everyday lives, such as, shopping and balancing our checkbooks. By exposing students to STEM and giving them opportunities to explore STEM-related concepts, they will develop a passion for it and hopefully pursue a job in a STEM field. A curriculum that is STEM-based has real-life situations to help the student learn. I believe using STEM tubs in my classroom will cause the students to become more interested in the STEM field.
