Losing control of one's emotions can be scary. My students are angry, confused, and unable to control their reactions to certain stimuli. My job is to aid them navigate their feelings and responses in a healthy and safe environment. Please help establish this safe space. In order to do this, I need to change the aesthetics of the room from something cold and hard to something more homey. I can accomplish this by adding lamps, art and a small water feature to the room.I dont know all of their various backgrounds, but, I am hoping they will feel safe with me. I am hoping they will feel comfortable enough to relax and allow me to guide them through the process of emotional repair. It is hard enough to be a teenager, but to display such a range of emotions in front of peers and teachers adds a whole new degree of difficulty. I am creating a safe place for students to relax, reflect and regain control. A space where they get in touch with their feelings so that they can become viable members of the classroom and the community.
