My students are highly engaged and excited when presented with novel problem-solving activities such as computer programming and coding. Last year they became coding experts using an online coding curriculum and the kid-friendly programming language Scratch. Near the end of the year they asked if we could program our own robot. I am asking for these materials to help fuel their excitement and interest in computer science and coding. Adding the science of robotics to my elementary gifted curriculum will take their learning to the next level, while keeping them interested and motivated to use their coding skills in a different way. Students will learn how to code the Mbot robot using the programming language Scratch which they learned the previous year. I can hardly wait to see how excited they will be to use critical and creative thinking skills as they dive in to the science of robotics!
