Many of my students come from families with emotional, mental and physical problems. I want them as soon as they come into my classroom to see colors everywhere. Colors hold power! The power of color is both emotional and practical; on an emotional level, color can affect how students feel when they look around the classroom, while on a practical level it can help it stand out. Red is a bold, energetic and lively color that can symbolize strength, confidence, and power; yellow is optimistic, cheerful, playful, happy and is also associated with mental clarity and intellect; orange communicates activity and energy; green represents plant life and growth and blue is appreciated for it’s calming and harmonious qualities being associated with the sea and sky. My theme is also Dr. Seuss which is full of colors and emotions. I moved to a new school and the classroom had all types of flexible seating. I was super excited since all my teaching years I wanted a classroom with flexible seating. I organized the classroom and set it up ready for the new school year. Just a few days ago, the old teacher that used this classroom came to me with the bad news that all the furniture in the classroom, including tables, chairs, seating mats, bookcases, easel, buckets, even the books belonged to her and she was taking everything. I was devastated! They had added a new classroom so she was moving all the classroom furniture with her. She mentioned that the same thing happened to her a couple of years ago and many of the things she now has were given through DonorsChoose.org. I went home and searched your website. I hope my students and I can be another one of the lives that you have touched and helped.
