I am asking for several flexible seating options for my classroom. First graders are always on the move and love the chance to get out of their desk chairs and sit around the room. The lap desks will allow my students to sit on the floor while still providing a place to write or use their laptops. The wobble stools are great for kids who have extra energy; they can stay seated and focused on their work while still getting the movement they desire. With the high academic expectations that are placed even on first graders, I want to give my students a chance to engage their creativity and critical thinking skills through the use of morning tubs. I would love to give my students several minutes each morning to use their imaginations and their problem solving skills through the materials I am requesting to put in the morning tubs (such as building tiles and alphabet linking cubes). While they work together, they will also be building oral language skills with their peers, which is a huge benefit for my EL students. Thank you for your consideration and support!
