Since I will be starting as a first year teacher in a low-income, high-need classroom, I will be spending a lot of money out of pocket in order to build up supplies in my classroom to meet students' needs. As a new mother who has been going to graduate school for the past year, I have very limited personal fund available in order to build up said supplies for my students. The items that I asked for in my project will meet the basic needs in the classroom (i.e. writing utensils). My dual language students (who I had the privilege of teaching last year as a student intern) showed a lot of engagement and excitement when we played word games with whiteboards so those are also on my checklist. I also want to empower my students as writers (especially in Vietnamese writing), which is why I asked for the "special" flair pens, which we will be using for our final, published version of their writing.
