In my school's community, students are used to seeing garbage around them and tossed to the ground and this unfortunately happens in our own school environment as well. Therefore, I would like to create a school-wide learning experience around garbage and recycling. In order to encourage student engagement in the clean-up process, I would like to purchase some grabbers, garbage bags, gloves, brooms and dustpans. The more students get involved in keeping the school clean, the more they will bring this knowledge to their own lives and communities. We will supplement the physical action of cleaning, with lessons around pollution and its effects on climate change, as well as readings that share interesting projects around the world to address this issue. All these materials will help students become leaders in our school that will affect our community and our the future of our planet!
