Having a classroom carpet will provide the students with the ability to come together with their peers as well as myself, the teacher and learn in a form where they are most comfortable. Students are expected so sit in a seat at a desk for about 6-7 hours each day and focus on what is being taught and retain the information with little to no disruptions however, students are human. Humans are naturally bound to want to move around and move their bodies especially when sitting may become uncomfortable. Students will also use the classroom carpet as an area for manipulatives and hands-on activities along with certain experiments in science that require ample space. I plan to use my carpet as an area of community and gathering as well as a place that I will offer to my students if they need some time to stretch and regroup.
