A kidney-shaped table is beneficial to the learning experience of the students. We currently work at rectangular tables which make it difficult to meet the needs of all students in the group. A kidney-shaped table allows the teacher to have better small group instruction. It allows me to reach the needs of each individual student within the group. With a kidney-shaped table, the teacher can sit in the middle and easily see what each student is doing. In this way, I can better lead multiple students at once through lessons, reviews, and guided reading groups. A kidney-shaped table also allows for up to 6 students to be seated comfortably. It allows each student easy access to work in a group as they collaborate to complete assignments. Due to its shape, I can easily monitor students as they complete their assignments with me. In addition, students can easily turn to each other to have discussions as they work collaboratively. Overall, it will allow my students' individual needs to be met and allow them one on one time in a productive space.
