Each year our students are required to participate in state mandatory testing. All students are required to type their responses, however due to lack of technology in the both their homes and classrooms, many students have not had the necessary exposure to allow them to demonstrate their proficiency of testable subjects. Each classroom only has 2 computers for 25 students to utilize, and while we do seek parent support in purchasing additional technology, many are unable to provide this kind of assistance. We can sure use these Chromebooks we are requesting in our classroom. Furthermore, our state is adopting many technology standards to be implemented in the next few years. Again, due to lack of available technology, we struggle to provide students with the appropriate resources to practice and achieve mastery in the area of Computer Sciences. As this is a highly demanded skill in both the academic environment and available job markets, we want to ensure that we are providing our students with the highest possibility of success by allowing them ample exposure and opportunity to master the basic computer science skills of typing, research, publication and coding.
