My first graders need a place to hold community meetings, gather on the carpet, and participate in daily discussions in various subjects throughout the day. It is much more efficient for learning to take place on a community carpet because it allows students to see and hear the teacher better. In first grade, it is vital for students to have their own carpet space to help them grow socially and academically. Students who have access to classroom community carpets have more opportunities to participate in community discussions with classmates and are able to see the whiteboard easier. This is also an age appropriate necessity for my students. We will use our classroom community carpet at all times of the day and for all subjects. As we begin the stages of inquiry, the classroom community carpet gives us a space to discuss and collaborate on new ideas and strategies. A classroom community carpet will also allow us to have more flexible seating options in our room!
