These materials will provide a safe, comfortable area in the classroom to take a mindfulness break when things get overwhelming. I’d like to provide beanbag chairs, a rug, some visually pleasant wall hangings, and live plants to help create this safe space and ultimately the life skill of knowing when to step away for the purpose of self care. This idea for a peace corner or reading nook is not something I made up, many teachers throughout the years have found it to be a great asset in the learning environment. We all need a place to go at times and it’s not always an option to leave the room due to supervision restraints.

About my class
