This upcoming semester I will be teaching a course on personal finance beside my other math classes. For of my courses students need calculators to compute simple (yet confusing) mathematical calculations. Students in the personal finance course will be learning about interest rates, how credit cards work, what the different bank accounts are and what they can be used for, and how loans and mortgages work. They will also have a final project of creating their own business (a lemonade stand in this case). The donation of calculators will help my students by easing their stress on small computational matters. It will help to clarify some confusing subject matters and topics. My personal finance and other students will better understand how to manage their own finances in the future. My hopes are to educate them on how to financially stable and independent as they will soon graduate into the adulting world.
